Dear Lord I have the ability to set the entire course of my life on fire simply by a careless word fueled by a negative thought, conclusion or assumption about myself or another person. Forgive me Lord for allowing my tongue to direct the course of my life. Just like a small rudder on a boat, my tongue can run my entire ship into ruin. Override my negative thinking and words and remind my mind that in you I have the ability to speak LIFE into my inner dialogue and the lives of those entrusted to my care. Teach me how to tame my tongue so that every word that spills out of my mouth flows from your mind and heart. Help me to not let my tongue be the boss of me, I want to resurrect your power within me so that you become the boss of my thoughts and words. Fill my mind with all that is good, right, beautiful, excellent and praise worthy and make my words flow from this sanctuary of beauty.

Dear Lord, remind my mind, for this is the true battleground for victory over stress, that your presence within me is greater than any encounter I will experience with outer circumstances. Too often I forget that you have already overcome all that I feel has overcome me. I am not my struggle, opinions of other people or even the pain and anguish I experience on this journey of life. I am your child and you have woven within me the ability through Christ to move any mountain I face, to tear down any lie or false conclusion that speaks death into my perceptions rather than life.

But prayer for us as Christians is and will continue to be the most important things we do as Christians. So, let’s take time to think about that. If it is the most important thing, we as Christians do, then knowing the various acts of prayer and how to perform them should be of utmost importance to us.
This study is not about complicating prayer with some of its deep theological meanings, but rather to make it more specific by understanding the different types. Specificity is so important to God and knowing the different types of prayer will draw us nearer to him, bringing light to darkness and increasing its effectiveness.

Dear Lord, open my heart and mind to your unselfish ways. You served others over your own needs. You continually loved in the face of hatred. May my motives be rooted in your love for me. For I cannot give out what I have not experienced within. Help me to put to death all of the faces of greed in my life. Make me aware of the tricky spots that greed hides behind when it comes to my behavior. I find myself it a place of generosity when it is convenient and fits in with my to-do list. Move me to generosity with my time, assumptions and behavior. I want to make you recognizable in this world. Have your way with me in spite of myself.

Forgive me for every declined invitation I have sent back to you. Forgive me for putting things above my relationship with you and the people I love. I know your word does not return to you void but accomplishes the purpose for which it’s sent. If I am too busy you will use someone else to accomplish your will on earth. Wake me up to remember what I have learned during the storms in my life. Lord, where else do I need to go, for in you and with you I lack nothing. No more excuses, I choose you. Move me to draw closer to you today than yesterday.
Dear Lord, draw me out of my self imposed cocoon of fear, self doubts and worry into the radical experience of your love, forgiveness and restoration. Set me free to remember who I am, why I am hear and the purpose for which my heart beats. Just as the caterpillar has the DNA of the butterfly, and it was created to fly. I have your DNA as I am created in your image to be the hands and feet of Christ. Come close to me today sweet Savior and resurrect within me my identity in you to move mountains and walk on top of the tumultuous waters.
